2nd Bottle Glass Dilemma
When dining out, if you order a second bottle of the same wine, should new glasses be provided? Some folks don’t care, but, personally, I prefer new glasses. Although hopefully the second bottle is checked for any defects, there is a good possibility of “bottle variation” meaning it may not be quite the same as the first bottle, maybe better, maybe not as good. Therefore, new glasses provide a clean environment for the new bottle to show its stuff. Unless in a wine-savvy restaurant with knowledgeable staff, don’t count on the serving staff to know exactly how to handle this particular situation. As you’ re paying for the wine, it’s up to you to ensure the new bottle is handled the way you like and you get the most out of the experience.
