Wine, for the most part, is presented in glass bottles. However, packaging has and will become more experimental and avant garde as time goes on. As producers and distributors conform to environmental issues, combat expenses and compete for shelf space and visibility, presentation should be quite fascinating. Now some glass bottles are lighter and even made from plastic. Alternative packaging includes wine in boxes and tetra-packs that have improved drastically since their introduction to the market. There’s also wine in cans. Australia seems to have pioneered this concept and it’s only a matter of time ‘til we see it here. Even wine “on tap”, like beer, is now out there. What’s next?
