Taste Preferences for Wine
Our taste preferences for specific wines is complex. We are all pre-programmed with likes and dislikes in wine. It’s our genetics that define our sensory physiology and range to which we perceive them. Many of our tastes are related to sex and age. Physiologically, women and men vary drastically in their ability to experience certain things and that changes as we age. We can change our likes or dislikes through learning, culture, peer pressure, observation and life experience. Furthermore, environmental stimuli like music, time of day, colour and temperature of a room, etc. can all affect perception and reactions to it differ for each person. Even the price of a wine or the power of suggestion can alter our experience of its taste.
